In September last year, we launched Seedream 4.0, a unified image creation model that combined some common sense and reasoning capabilities, which received positive feedback from many users.

Today, we introduce the latest intelligent image creation model, Seedream 5.0 Lite. Compared to version 4.0, it offers comprehensive improvements in understanding, reasoning, and generation, making it a "smarter" and "more professional" visual creative buddy.

The main improvement brought by Seedream 5.0 Lite is not higher resolution or faster speed, but the deep thinking behind "reading", "seeing", "drawing", and "writing". Words can hardly capture the subtle light, shadow, and brushwork in art. Thanks to the enhanced cross-modal understanding of Seedream 5.0 Lite, you no longer need to labor over complex prompts. With just a single reference image, the model can instantly "synesthesize" the style you desire.

Whether it is the ornate Bohemian style or the texture of an Impressionist oil painting, it accurately captures the essence and integrates it into the generated image, transforming a casual snapshot into a work of art.

Compared to previous models, the editing controllability of Seedream 5.0 Lite has been further enhanced. When performing local edits or subject replacement, the model maintains consistency in non-edited areas more stably, allowing users to make precise, targeted modifications.

6. Complex multi-subject generation: Accurately follow instructions and render diverse subject attributes

Seedream 5.0 Lite has also made progress in fundamental image generation. It captures detailed instructions within prompts with greater sensitivity, accurately interpreting and translating complex spatial relationships, specific object attributes, and even abstract emotional atmospheres into the final image. 

For instance, even in visuals containing up to nine subjects, the Seedream model still successfully adhered to complex instructions, accurately rendering attributes such as letters, time, numbers, and colors.

Seedream 5.0 Lite Evaluation

Significant Improvements in Office and Study Scenarios

Seedream 5.0 Lite goes beyond improvements of fundamental capabilities. It focuses on practical, real-world applications for everyday life and work. Therefore, in our capability tests, we not only evaluated traditional metrics such as instruction following, text-image consistency, and overall performance, but also introduced specialized tests for high-frequency application scenarios, including knowledge reasoning, office and study, business marketing, creative arts, and design.

The evaluation was conducted on the MagicArena platform, where we introduced various models for double-blind side-by-side comparisons. To ensure objectivity, all scoring was performed by senior evaluation experts in the field of image generation. Based on tens of thousands of rounds, we established a high-confidence Elo leaderboard.

The results show that, compared to the previous generation, Seedream 5.0 Lite has made significant progress in key fundamental metrics, including overall Elo score, instruction following, and editing consistency. It demonstrated stronger comprehension and execution, especially in scenarios involving knowledge reasoning and portrait enhancement. In real-world applications, particularly in office and study scenarios, its performance score has substantially improved alongside its enhanced reasoning abilities. This means Seedream 5.0 Lite is no longer just a creative novelty but a capable assistant integrated into users' work and daily lives.

Summary and Outlook

The enhancement of its cross-modal reasoning capabilities and world knowledge has allowed Seedream 5.0 Lite to evolve from merely "executing instructions" to truly "understanding intent". This signifies a substantial improvement in overall image generation capabilities and will also bring about new, more efficient ways of interaction. In the future, users will likely no longer need to learn complex prompting techniques. By simply communicating their creative intent to the model, they will be able to complete image and text creation efficiently and accurately.
